I understand this. I don’t bring any electronic gadgetry on my contitutional, but I do get into a kind of meditative state where I shut out the world. Today I was lazy and walked only two and a half miles.
This afternoon, watching people hurry down San Francisco streets, like Darrin, absorbed in their smartphones, radios, mp3 players…some wearing dark glasses, hoodies pulled close…I wondered how they managed to avoid collision…. with each other, with mailboxes, lamposts, zooming bicycles, and to barely miss lethal encounters with the diesel spewing behemoths swerving into bus stops.Meanwhile, they were completely ignoring the charms of a city that draws tourists from thousands of miles away., on a beautiful blue skies day in a city famous for fog.
You’re right, Briatollah…How about a Red Tail Ale, please, bartender?I feel like going local….and where’s the Monkey?
Storm…. got any of that pizza left?
Hullo Red…. you’re still up?X …. a gorgeous day in San Francisco too. I actually started out today on “your side”, but in Walnut Creek, having stayed with the same friend….still nice in the North Bay all the way home….
Beautiful day on ALL sides of the Bay!
And Bri — do you have some sort of velocipede other than a bicycle?I used to see many types at our annual steampunk event, the Great West End Handcar Regatta….but alas… it is no more…. defunct…collapsed…. pining for the fjords…Meanwhile…. Ballard Street has some beautiful parks, doesn’t it?
but I love steampunk, and I liked having an excuse to post those pics.
And I like words, in general.
Also, I used to know…. or I should say I was somewhat acquainted with, a fellow who made all sorts of modern conveyances he called velocipedes… variations on bicycles… from 1 to 5 or 6 wheels (hexcycles?)
Mostly recumbent, but not all… patched together out of diverse materials.. bike sections mixed with salvaged car bits…
Looked like a dump rescue operation…hand-pieced fairings held together with duct tape, odd, lumpy welds, one I saw had a catcher’s mitt for a seat…
Later I found out through our mutual bike shop that he was a millionaire, and some of his creations contained thousands of dollars worth of expensive bike parts.
Okay Susan He built it now what? Maybe Redbull can get him to jump from OVER 120,000 feet breaking the new record and on that contraption pedalling fiercely as he falls at over the speed of sound.I wonder if the guy who did it the other day experienced the vibrations Yager got when he broke it.What I loved was the step off.“Hello Earth, Catch me!”Hey RepocWas feeling a little depressed over the weekend. Got some tunes to cheer me up. Rush 2112 really lifted my spirits.Turtle Beach Head phones, Volume near fatal. Play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. Hunger games can kiss my derriere.Still got my butt kicked but the tunes were rocking the game board. I had some ask “Who was that? They had never heard it.”Oh back to the stripSee it everyday whats the big deal. I’ve only had this computer and my own free access to the world since September. How long have you had your toys?Plugged in. Tuned in. Turn inwards. Cyber world awaits.
I can see bike man now. I see the train a’coming, its coming round the bend, I must pedal faster or it will go up my rear end.Sorry Johnny could not resist it.
Thus was why Darrin was found floundering in the cove by Linguist’s crew last week….>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Darren’s getting a bit like Andy Capp with the canal. We’ve fished Darren out more than once but he refuses to give up his “inner-self” for safety sake.He calls it Zen and the art of self-absorption. I call it the i-P factor.
Good Morning All ! I’m back – a little the worse for wear and a bit jet lagged. Flights were delayed both coming and going. I was stuck in Atlanta on the way back ( My least favorite airport !) so I didn’t get home until early this morning. The airlines want to charge us more but they sure don’t want to do anything to earn the money.
Thanks Red, I am definitely glad to be back. This was the weekend from hell. Now I remember why I gave this work up ! If I didn’t have to pay the gd bills…Definitely will be down at the ole Tiki this afternoon for some adult beverages. See you there.I sent GC a inquiry but have no clue why FA is shutting me out. I don’t think I pissed off Theresa or anything like that.

Darrin is an Apple fanboi. He’s strictly form over function. Even his wardrobe coordinates with the brand palette: neutral whites and grays with a splash of blue. iOS6 gave him a few issues so he’s headed for the Genius Bar right now. Folk who tell him how much cheaper their Android phone is and how they can customise them and can use Flash websites and yada yada make him iRate. They just don’t get it. They just don’t.
