Ralph: TV was way better when I was a kid! Nowadays, you never know what kind of objectionable material will appear on the screen! When I was a kid, parents could leave their kids in front of the TV for hours on end! Patrick: And that was a good thing?? Ralph: Actually, my mother set a strict limit of only 12 hours a day!

had a local hardware store that was getting beat up by a competitor: it seems he had bought a (cheap, but 60-second) slot just before the sign-off at night. my friend bought a 60-second slot just BEFORE the competitor’s slot, put a 45-second sequence of a brisk national anthem, with rousing jet overflights, roaring battle ships, thundering tanks, and the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima, and a top corner screen tag with his business name on it. the last 15 seconds was the color bar/target screen with static sound track. riot! but it worked!
