She obviously has some kind of mental problem regarding putting sausages out for Fred. The only way to prevent Fred from digging in the yard is to pave it in green concrete. But then the comic strip would lose one of its most endearing aspects.
I saw a tv show about a bassett contest at a park where everyone was sitting around with their dogs chatting about what great pets they are. While I don’t doubt it, it also showed how they drool constantly. Gotta love your dog to put up with that. Everyone had a towel and seemed to find it part of the dog’s charm…..eeww. Love ya Fred.

This is why we have never had Bassetts. Cute they may be, but they are the absolutely dirtiest dogs to own, they just can’t help it.
