Transcript:
tyr: Hey, ms. amazement, what's your origin story? Woman: Well, it's complicated... originally, I was the finest warrior of my ancient celtic tribe....but it was revealed I was actually a statue magically brought to life! then it turned out I was an alternate earth version of captain victorious' cousin... then I was reincarnated as a goddess. at one point, I was erased from existence... tyr: Geez, isn't it annoying to have so many origins? woman: not when you go back to being 23 every time you get a new one!

Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman, Power Girl, Wonder Woman…a bunch of different characters, though neither Wondie nor Peeg has ever gotten that one.

Maybe it’s because I inked and later wrote comic books, but I completely loathe “reenvisioning” of heroes and new origins.

After awhile the editors feel that the character has become “stale” or something like that, perhaps sales start to slip a little. So the character is remade to be whatever the current buzzword shows as being popular. They must be “edgy” and “bold”. Oh yeah, and if the character was originally a white male, then they must be “re-imagined” as Hispanic/Black, female, homosexual, or preferably all of the above.
