Yes, I am better off. The economy didnât collapse, my adult children are getting jobs and we still have income. This despite the Republicans best efforts. After eight years of near fascist dominance by Republicans, I live in fear. Now, a lot less so.
Yes, my life is better than four years ago. I want it to stay that way.
Doonesbury and Mallard Filmore are both partisan and have their fans. This strip (while leaning a little right) does hit both sides. Robert Anton Wilson was correct: âThis country does not have consensus on free speech, what we have is lack of consensus of which speech to suppress.â
The question that should be asked is will you be better off in 4 years under Obama or Romney ? Would we better off now if McCain/Palin had won in 2008? Think about that
Are you better off? Look at the Dow. Look at employment. Look at terrorism. Look at Detroit. The nation is better off under Obama than Bush, and Romney wants to go back to Bushâs policies.
Doonesbury and Prickly City donât share the same politics, but more often than not, they are funny. Both are also not afraid to take shots at their own political base if they deserve it. Mallard Fillmore is just terrible. Not even close to being funny.
âOpen mindedâ liberals like you seem a lot more frightened about the prospect of a Romney administration than conservatives do about 4 more years of Obama. Itâs a bit frightening how little faith the Left has in the strength of the country.
Romney and Obama are more alike than different, which I donât like. Itâs a matter of degrees. Healthcare is a perfect example. Both favor government-mandated health coverage. Romney just wants it at the state level while Obama prefers it at the federal level.

On blogs I have always referred to the current president as âChanceyâ â the protagonist from âBeing There.â Fits perfectly.

Letâs see, four years ago we were on the verge of a great depression, so, yes, we are better off.

I am absolutely better off than I was four years ago, and so is the country.
- Continuing recovery from the Dubya recession,
- Continued job growth
- Continued stock market growth
- Improved access to affordable health care
- Continuing growth in the housing market
- Continued destruction of Al Qaeda and its fellow travelers
- Global leadership based on strength AND cooperation, not just unilateral âmy way or the highwayâ chest-thumping and wars of choice
Thatâs âmore of the sameâ I will gladly vote for.

Either way, Stantis, you lose:
a. Obama wins and you get to choke on it.
Romney wins and you get to count down tick by tick as he sells you out.
