Hector, Carlos - does one of you have diabetes now?
I was just diagnosed with Type II diabetes a couple of months ago and have found myself paying more attention to your comic strip when it deals with this condition.
Enlightening and informative - thank you.

Yes, holistic medicine. I am using diet and exercise…
My wife changed my diet and completely broke my old eating patterns and habits, and I have adopted a whole new approach to meals. I also take a brisk 45 minute to an hour walk a day.
So, far, it has worked wonderfully. My doctor was amazed at the reduction in my A1C measurement ( 7.8 to 5.6 ) and told me my diabetes was in remission.
However, I have not consumed a tobacco product in over 26 years now, but still consider my self a smoker - so, I will always have diabetes and conduct my life accordingly, even if I do not display any symptoms of diabetes.
And laughter definitely helps - one reason I read my comic strips daily - a good dose of medicine that tastes really good and goes down easy.
Especially when the strips are Baldo and Yenny!

sigh I know I’m in the minority, but I miss comics that were funny and didn’t feel like they should have to, like this instance, carry a public service message.

Doty, if he’s just developing it now, it’s almost certainly Type II. He still produces some insulin, just not enough, and his body’s getting “insulin resistant.”. Diet, exercise and, probably, medications to lower the resistance will usually be enough. I know’ I’ve been Type II for seven years, now.

Ron, neither Hector nor myself have diabetes, though we have relatives in both our families how do. My mother also has type ll diabetes. We’re happy to offer inspiration and a bit of information.
Glad to see you are taking responsibility for your health. You will inspire many others to do the same. Congrats. Keep it up.
Continued good health, C-
