Great! Let’s shift to human flatulence as a source of “gas”. That should make the U.S. energy independent! That way we can change the name of the “Smart Car” to the “Fart Car”!
I have seen things both way about fracking and most of the anti things have been proven false. They have proven that people were doing things to make it appear that there is gas in their water.
The fracking fluid (needed to lubricate shattered rock to allow gas to escape) is toxic and sometimes leaks into groundwater (the explosives do crack the rocks – that is the point). However, I suspect more research could develop non-toxic fluids for fracking.
On the political front, If fracking ruins your well, you should be compensated. Not because the gas company is evil, but because that cost needs to be included in the cost of the gas – not borne by you.
OH BROTHER, OR SHOULD I SAY OH BOTHER! I live in PA as well. And fracking, if done properly, which in almost every instance IS DONE PROPERLY is a boon and a blessing to our self sufficiency as a nation and to the economy and job creations in PA. And I also work in Environmental Resources! and have for OVER 25 YEARS!

Problem is, fracking HAS polluted wells and aquifers. It isn’t an imaginary fear, it’s a reality that needs to be dealt with.

And anything that’s a “boon economically” must be pursued irrespective of any harmful side effects!
