Hey, when I was a kiddy-wink, my studio portraits were done with a large-format plate view camera with a hood and a shutter bulb. (I /think/ they were dummy plates loaded with film, though.)

You must also swear at your light stands, umbrellas, soft boxes, tripods, strobes, and other gear. Otherwise they will sense your fear.
