We never did the Christmas list thing when I was a kid, we often got something we can all play with like a Nintendo and a coulle of games we wanted, we also recived money to put up and save, my father was a firm believer in teaching us how money worked and how to budget, if you wanted something you worked for it put the money up and saved for it, if something came up before that like you broke your glasses or needed something for school well that came out of your savings eventually you learn that if you want something you not only have to have the cash to cover it but the cash to cover lifes mishaps also.
