This strip reminds me of an old joke….and I mean an o..o..ld joke….
Ok, this is dumb….but I like corny old jokes….(DON’T say I didn’t warn you….)
A city fellow, longing to know about the simpler life of farm folks, goes for a long drive out into the country….
Following a small road as it meanders through pastures, he comes upon a remarkable sight:A beautiful apple tree… red fruit gleaming in the sun.
And beneath the spreading branches stands a farmer, and upon the farmer’s shoulders sits…a huge pig!And he’s pretty sure the pig is…. unbelievably…. eating apples right from the tree!
His brakes squeal as he pulls to a stop.Backing up, he sees that not only was the pig slowly munching apples, the farmer was sweating and straining to hold the 200 pound beast aloft.
He reaches over and rolls down the window…. “Excuse me, sir…. but why is that pig sitting on your shoulders?”
“You mean Buster?(mopping his brow) Well…(grunt)… he likes apples, y’see.”
“But…. but….all right, I know I’m ignorant about farming….but….wouldn’t it be a lot faster if you just…. you know….picked a pile of apples to give to Buster?”
The farmer looked at him in surprise.
“Well, sir, well, sir…. I’ve heard you city boys was smart. That sounds like it might be a fine idea….I’ll give that some good thought, I will.Thank you, sir.”
And he focused again on holding up the pig. A few weeks later, the city fellow grew so curious about the outcome that he searched the countryside, till he found the same road, and followed it again.
And there, in the same spot…. stood the same farmer…. with the same pig on his shoulders, eating apples…. only now the lowest branches were bare, so the farmer struggled to lift him even higher. “Hello again! I see that you’re still lifting Buster into the tree!”“Why yessir, I am.”
“But…. but… why?”"Well sir, I did think about your idea…and you were right. It would be faster if I picked the apples for Buster.
But then I thought and I thought some more…and I realised…what’s time to a pig?"
When I take the dogs for a ride in the car one wants my lap and just stares up at me and other becomes a neck support occasionally sticking her nose in my ear. The other sits in the back window and barks at anything until I turn on the radio.
I live with my aunt. She has a toy poodle. Bailey. Or Knuckle Head as I like to call him. He is a therapy dog at an assisted loving place where my aunt works. He is so used to being with the elderly, riding in their wheelchairs, sleeping in laps that he hates to walk now. Some days My aunt says he will start down a hall and just stop and LEAN against the wall waiting for a lift. She is thinking about getting a wagon for him. I ain’t pushing no doggie around in a wagon! He also has a thing for me. He is my shadow. Crazy little so and so.
Mickey used ta “ride” Margie… then it was Darren’s argyle sox…. which have mysteriously disapeared…. No matter, he now likes Darren’s chenille shirts, AND he gits a view…!!
If I could go back in time the one thing I would love to see is when the first dog and the first human joined forces. This bond between us transends anything I have observed in all my years and studies. Dogs will literally die for you with out question. They have laid on their masters grave and passed. No animal and I mean not a single one shows that much loyality. When did it happen? How did it happen? I have three at home that wait and wait for me to walk in. I can go get treats and food but when I sit down there they are. I have to give all the loves I can before they will go eat. Then its cuddles and watch TV or play video games. The chihuahua swipes at the controller trying to push a button. I have set it down and she will push at the button area and bark at the screen. She will stop look at me just wag her tail. Her character got destroyed but she dont care. Heck just respawn and go on.
my fur babies are also spoiled rotten…a basset hound and terrior and a siamese…all three know that Katrinka owns all of us…the guys bow down to her (ok so do I) but of the two dogs, the Terror (small jack russel) lords it over King George (large basset hound)…I cant imagine living without their love…and dont want to either!
Ah gots a big-o-gig goin on t’nite at acozy whinery… so’s ah probly won’t chek in til tomorrah er so… Gots ta go change out mah G string (gitten kinda worn) an make shur mah gitter is tooned up… go pik up sum extra mojo, mayke shur its woikin’…. this playce is nown fer its homemaid yak flatbred…. (hits ya lik a truck… mmmm, lotta garlick iz gud..!!!) BTW… thanks fer loanin me yer lite kit Red…!!! (it wuz sittin on yer porch so I’m puttin’ it ta gud youse tonite…!)

Meanwhile…. that yawning smiley reminds me that I’m still really tired.
Today I feel like Mickey…. I’d rather ride.
No one would want to carry me, though….. sigh…..

Margie is the point dog and Mickey handles the aerial reconnaissance.

Hi guys…
Bri — I’ve never heard of Boobiehatch…. I guess I should take a look?
I have a hard time keeping up with the 45 strips I have on my page, so I don’t get around much.
I see you and Bev and Marg all OVER the place. Dunno how you do it.
SusanSunshine Premium Member about 12 years ago
Bev … making pictures bigger or smaller is just a tiny addition to the code you use to post them in the first place.
Emoticons ARE pictures.. so you know how to do that now.
We’ll help you when you’re ready.
Meanwhile, whether in Chrome or Firefox, I can’t find any green circles.
What Larry was calling a “fold” is just the little dots in the lower right corner… maybe to him they make the comment box look a little dog-eared.
If you want to see more of what you’ve written, or you want more space to write, you can click there and drag the comment box bigger.
But I don’t like to make it wider cos I lose track of how much looooonger the comment will look after it posts….cos it’ll be in a narrow box again.
