Get Fuzzy by Darby Conley for November 09, 2012
Transcript:
Satchel: One of the Stephen King movies you want to remake for English audiences still has it's original title in your notes here. Bucky: No, that says the shimpling, not "The Shining." Satchel: No, no, "1408." No change, see? Bucky: Oh, right. That'll be about Henry Percy, the first Earl of Northumberland, who died in the year 1408. Satchel: "Percy"? Doesn't sound too scary! Ha ha! Bucky: His severed head was stuck on a spike on London Bridge. The plot needs work, but the DVD cover will be fly. Check out the next page. Satchel: Ha ha! Ewww! I'd see that!

Stephen King. The sound of one note clanking.

“Ha ha! Eww! I’d see that!” Sounds exactly like my brother-in-law.

At least Bucky is up to date on his slang…" Fly" circa 1990’s

orinoco, it really is amazing how some slang words fill a nitch for years and hang in there….I don’t think the word “cool” will ever go out of style..whereas “groovy” didn’t last that long….I love slang….

Funny what Varnes said about “cool”. I bought a leather key fob in 1970 depicting Snoopy wearing a pair of shades and red turtleneck stamped Joe Cool. Still use the fob even tho Snoopy’s pic faded long ago.

Enough already Mr. Conley! Time to put Bucky in the canvas backed director’s chair ala Kubrick/Stone with a dash of Kirosawa..He’s certainly eccentric enough.

Get Fuzzy is my favorite strip. Darby’s sense of humor is dry, witty, quirky, epigrammatic, satirical, mordant and even sophomoric at times. All across the board. I love it all.
