Three movies for LOTR I could understand. That was three books. Three movies for “The Hobbit”? One 250 page book? Can you say overwhelming greed, boys and girls?
The fact that they are adding stuff that wasn’t even in the book and that they went form 2 to 3 movies, makes me lean more towards “Hollywood Greed” than “Artistic Vision.”
I’m surprised no one commented on the sub-title of the movie. There and Back Again was the original sub-title that Tolkien gave the Hobbit, they have a different sub-title for the movie but I can’t remember what it is right now.
The movie’s subtitle is “An Unexpected Journey.”I had to verify the book’s sub-title because I wasn’t sure if “There and Back Again” was just an important quote or theme and couldn’t imagine why the movie would choose a different (and blander) subtitle. Crazy Hollywood.
The subtitle “An Unexpected Journey” is derived from the title of Chapter One, An Unexpected Party. I should reread it before going to see it. Where is it now? Let me see…
I know the Houston Chronicle does…thats where I was introduced to this strip. I own the “Heart of the City” book of strips, too…very hard to find, had to buy it used.

Likely nothing, this is an accurate depiction of the geek reaction to this movie.

That’s a rather dodgy-looking hobbit, althoug anything’s better than a Rankin-Bass hobbit:Looks more like a frog.
