Caulfield: Somebody had to discover you could do it. Why not the smartest man in history? Frazz: I'm fine with your theory. Just stop calling my idol Leonarmpit Di Vinci.
@Nabuquduriuzhur: Yes, Heroâs steam engine worked, but it couldnât actually do anything. Itâs never been anything more than just a nifty toy, and bears essentially no connection at all to Wattâs steam engine (which could actually do many practical things). If you want to idolize Hero for anything, it should be his work in geometry: He still wasnât the greatest at that, but he did at least make real practical contributions there.
da vinci was the first ârenaissanceâ man. engineer, artist, scupltor, thinker, etcâŠhe does more in one lifetime than most of us. sometimes i wonder what life would be like if there was no dark ages.
LEONARDOLW(Sung to âDesperadoâ as performed by the Eagles)
Leonardo,My dear old one-person college,Whatâs all of your knowledgeBeginning to plan?A new inventionOr some artistic distractionTo add to your fame asA Renaissance man?
As if it werenât enough to beA sculptor and a painter,You mastered engineering just for show. And your flame of educationShows no sign of getting fainter.Be there anything, paisan,You donât know?
Leonardo,When want you want donât exist yet,You go and invent itTo suit your demands.Nobodyâs perfect,Yet youâre the perfect exampleOf what one can be asA Renaissance man.
Why, you still believe that a man can fly!Your will gets stronger with every try.You say that boats can sailBeneath the sea? Both our minds were made in Italy,But your sketches and ideas are GreekTo me.
Leonardo,If you donât know it, youâll learn it.Each fact that concerns itYouâll soon understand. You shrug it off, see,Since itâs a cinch for DaVinci.Itâs just one more day in the life of -One day in the life of -Itâs just one more day in the life ofA Renaissance man.

So Leonardo invented tightie-whities as well? Let Hero of Alexandria top that.

I like how the picture shows a man making a vulgar noise and yet heâs decently covered.
