Golly gosh Burl’n’Joy, don’t be too extravagant in giving your letter carrier a Christmas tip. You wouldn’t want him/her to be embarrassed. And while you’re at it Joy, try shovelling another pound of Oreos into your maw; your thighs almost register on the Richter Scale when you walk. Aren’t those cookies those ones you liberated from the Dollar store while Burl was distracting them with a question about pricing?

Wow, a whole dollar. Don’t spend it all in one place.

That’s the kind of tip I got as a newsboy in 1971…

Don’t talk too badly about the dollar stores. I got a really nice Rolex there the other day. And the food helps save money on lighting ’cause it glows in the dark.

They judge the cheapness and crassness of others while not realizing they are the Benchmark.

@finaleI bought my wife a Coach bag from a guy in the parking lot. Cost $10. She carried that suckah for about two years. I wish the folks here at work would just cram cheap cookies in a tin. This lady made about 10 different kinds of treats. I have gaind 10 lbs in the last week.

if you don’t want to bake don’t make tins up. I remember as a kid the lady next door did the same thing and was hurt when her kids empty the of home made goods my mom made up we brought over and hers was still full of the store bought cookies. Got figure my mom would spend at least a week of baking, and the neighbor 30 minutes at the store. :)

Last year I was at home and went to the Christmas archery shoot (which also has a pot-luck breakfast; archery events are always pretty much at dawn because parks prefer that we clear the space of such dangers before crowds arrive who are not used to arrows). .I took home baked amaretti and butterscotch and I also sampled all the other home made treats. I did not overdo it because at least 1/2 the contributions were storebought. It’s OK; not everyone can or will cook.

And in case you’re desirous of doing better by your mail carrier than the Pennys do by theirs, the rules are: No cash, no checks. Gifts and gift cards are okay up to $20. Baked goods okay.

Actually the tin Joy is filling with oreos has no label on it I suspect that one is for the Pennys and the others in the stack all contain vanilla wafers. And no way are they giving away Jingles.

This is the time of the year that I’m glad (sorta) I’m gluten intolerant! And Mikie2, your comments made me laugh out loud today! Good ones!
