Adam: I'm thinking about shortening my name. Laura: Ada? Adam: No. Just "A". The letter "A" has many positive connotations. Katy: Pray tell. Adam: It's the best grade in school. It's the best kind of steak. Katy: And there's the baseball team in Oakland. Adam: I'd be the first guy in the phone book. Katy: And think of all the wonderful calls you'd get from strangers.

No, used to be the âKansas City Athletics,â moved to Oakland in 1968, changed name to âOakland Aâsâ.

Technically, Oaklandâs nickname is still the Athletics, but theyâre most commonly referred to as the Aâs.
