Ladies and gentlemen, your government at work. Far more important than the fiscal cliff, right?

Highway 666 between Utah and Colorado was re-numbered 491, not out of superstition, but because people kept stealing the signs.

In a hotel I went in Florida, U.S.A., years ago, the elevator does not have a button for a 13th floor (is there a 13 floor? I do not have checked)…

I believe, though I could be wrong, that the government statement about mermaids was in response to a special on Discovery (or one of the related channels) claiming that a mermaid was discovered. The special was a hypothetical look at what actual mermaids would be like, and the government was responding to the inevitable people who would take the show seriously and believe real mermaids had been discovered.

According to the Pastafarians, the ‘Flying Jellyfish’ aliens actually have countless tentacles and look more like a Flying Spaghetti Monster.

My airline employer had first class from rows 1-12, the class divider at row 13, and coach started at row 14. More first class than we needed, but great for standby pass riding!

Why do mermaids wear seashells? Because B shells are too small and D shells are too big.

How much did the National Ocean Service ‘shell’ out to procure that information?I suppose they will try to keep abreast of any future developments.

There is no such government agency, “The National Ocean Service.” There are private organizations called the National Oceanic Society, and the Oceanic Society, but the only government agency, under the Dept of Commerce that matches this description is the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.) I always thought Ripley was more careful in reporting their “facts,” but now I have my doubts.

So Daddystate steps in to comfort us poor, ignorant, frightened citizens to tell us mermaids do not exist. I’m sorry, even if people were concerned, this is just silly, a waste of time.
