Clayton: Okay, friends. Time is of the essence. We must have these letters posted to santa by early next week. Now, there are many theories on how to maximize your santa-letter return. SOme theories call for a small number of large-ticket items. Others state that sheer volume can bring a healthier return. While I would posit a balance-volume combined with quality. Katy: I'm just going to ask for everything. Clayton: A potentially fatal choice. Santa thinks you're greedy and you get a stocking full of coal. Katy: Yes! I love coal! We'll be able to barbecue a delicious holiday ham!

Never barbequed a ham, but hey, go for it!

Holiday? Ham. It’s going to be Christmas – and it’s not a rude word.

I really thought that strip was going somewhere and it just collapsed.

Coal smells pretty bad when it burns so I’m afraid your ham would have a funny sulfur taste.

One Christmas we gave my two young sons some charcoal because they had misbehaved (we hid their real presents). They looked at each other shrugged and started playing with the charcoal! We knew they won and brought out the real presents.

By the way, I’m sure little Susie is thinking of charcoal and not actual coal.

I agree with Shygirl27, anyone who was brought up in the age when coal was the primary source of heat in American homes would certainly not want the horrid stench of coal smoke on their holiday ham.

That’s baby brother Nick. The happiest baby ever.

Actually, Santa prefers to put a rock in the stockings of bad little boys and girls, as his sister said you can burn coal and get heat. but all a rock does is weight them down.

I was going to use the word “posit” in a comment yesterday but had second thoughts about it. I didn’t think many people would understand what I meant.

I also am unaware of kids thinking that far ahead as to make a bbq ham out of a “sow’s ear”. I am sure there are plenty of bright thoughtful kids out there, I’ve just never met them.

That depends on the number of carats in that rock!
