Attorney: How many men have you shot since you became a marshal, Mr. Cogburn?Rooster: I never shot nobody I didn’t have to.Attorney: That was not the question. How many?Rooster: Uh, shot, or killed?Attorney: Oh, let us restrict it to killed, so that we may have a manageable figure!Rooster: Well, twelve to fifteen, stopping men in flight and defending myself.Attorney: Twelve to fifteen? So many that you cannot keep an accurate count! I have examined the record, Mr. Cogburn. A much more accurate figure is available. Come now — how many?Rooster: Counting them two Whartons… twenty-three.Attorney: Twenty-three men in four years. That makes about six men a year!Rooster: It’s a dangerous business.
agreed. meaningful solution for them was to have armed security at schools. they pointed to israel. israel rejected that. he says it was video games and the video game industry rejected that. saying people play madden, how come there are not a huge influx of great football players? and, turtles don’t shoot fireballs or hammers. he also says that autism are monsters. autism association took offense to that as well as the families of autistic kids. the nra press conference and later appearances were a pr disaster, and nightmare. wonder which head(s) at the nra will roll. plus, most nra members don’t believe the swill that the nra spouts and think that the nra staff are overpaid lawyers who never held a gun.
now, they would say to arm the firefighters to fight fires. even the volunteer firefighters. heard that the westboro baptist church(the ones who protest at funerals) are going to protest at the firefighters funerals.
“…most aclu members don’t believe the swill that the aclu spouts and think that the aclu staff are overpaid lawyers who are not women, gay, black, etc.”I would like to agree with you but I find it difficult to. Guilt by association it seems like. If such is true (most aclu members don’t believe the swill), and I’m not saying it isn’t I just don’t think so, then why do they allow the ACLU to get away with it? Do the silent members not realize that the ACLU and their membership in it only serves to make them look like certifiable nut-bags? Nut-bags that the current mental health care provisions don’t identify?
If the ACLU really cared about our rights, they would fight for firearm right.
I parodied what was written to show how stupid it is. actually, I applaud both groups for helping to keep the US free. They have to go the distance to protect those that don’t.
While most of the people that live in the inner city do not want the gang-bangers around, they also do not want to see police killing them. For the same reason, people that believe in 2nd amendment rights support those that go the distance.
The problem with special interest groups is that it makes many into single issue voters and divides us when we should be together(accepting others’ differences).
Let’s see…I could see the Dr. secretly calling the DOJ to send in a team to “disarm” him….wait …that wouldn’t work…even with a shot gun he’d mow the varmints down faster than they could reload! Thank God for old John Wayne movies…good memories.
@emptc12I separate the actor from their lives. >>>>>>>>>>>>The true art of an actor is to enable the audience to experience the willing suspension of disbelief. In great performances, we remember the characters not the actors. The old Hollywood star system actually inhibited great actors – as it does today, because it believed that no matter how bad ( or good ) the script, the audience went to see their idols.I worked with lots of actors ( male and female ) that I couldn’t stand personally but respected their talent. Conversely, there have been some " movie stars" who were really nice people off screen but either were a pita to work for or just ( for a kinder way of expressing it ) miscast in their roles.
And “art” rarely imitates life, at least with actors, and movies, notably John Wayne never served in either law enforcement, nor in any branch of the United States military.
And yes Wiley, despite the poor perhaps timing of this one, you do bring light on the “human condition” with humor and intelligence.
Unlike many of the so-called Hollywood war heroes, we lost a real one Monday. Charles Durning, a remarkable character and character actor passed away without many people, including his friends, knowing that he was a true WWII hero.He was among the first wave of U.S. soldiers to land at Normandy during the D-Day invasion and the only member of his Army unit to survive. He killed several Germans and was wounded in the leg. Later he was bayoneted by a young German soldier whom he killed with a rock. He was captured in the Battle of the Bulge and survived a massacre of prisoners.
In later years, he refused to discuss the military service for which he was awarded the Silver Star and three Purple Hearts.

1. If you’ll look closely at the copyright tag, you will note that this cartoon was done 4 years ago, as are all the cartoons this month.
2. The selection of the cartoons to run this week was done about 6 weeks ago.
3. Sadly, there are “recent events” regarding guns nearly every day in America.
4. “Funny”, like all art, is in the eye of the beholder.
