Actually, when hunting in west Texas one year in parched cactus and mesquite country, I actually saw a poor looking jack rabbit sized deer with a hugh rack he could hardly lift. He was too far to shoot, but it would have been a mercy killing for the starved animal.
Big bucks are going to be harder and harder to find -it’s called predatory evolution.Inasmuch as there seems to be some status for the hunter lucky enough to bring down the biggest buck, it now gives the smaller ones a chance to father the next generation.Thus size is no longer an advantage.
