    Technically, Dickens did not get paid by the word. They say it’s a myth. He did get paid by the length of the article, however, so for my money that’s the same thing. Sill, he was great. Dickens was the first rock star in America. When he arrived he was thronged wherever he went by adoring masses, swooning over him. This was in the 1840s.

    Dickens is alright, but he didn’t really take off until he teamed up with Arch Fenster.
