Oooooooh! Is the dragon in town?

Though I’m a fine one to talk… I’m a bit of a dragon myself. Especially when my cousin is visiting!

    But it’s all in humour.

    LOL xxx

I don’t usually put any of my own stuff in here, of course, but what with the Pogo “Night Before Christmas” I couldn’t resist. I wrote this parody a few years ago, by special request of the owner of a poetry forum I belong to. She wanted me to write a Christmas parody. The nick I used on the forum was “Redwolf”, which explains the wolf thing. (I hope……..) I’ve had a tradition of reciting it for my nieces and nephews on Christmas morning ever since then. Merry Christmas to all the Cappers!

    THE NIGHT BEFORE WOLFMAS

T’was the night before Christmas, with church bells glad tonesBut the wolf paid no heed, gnawing antelope bonesAnd gizzards of penguins and eyeballs of wombats(He’d worked up an appetite, winning those combats)

The wolf was well-mannered, he kept out of barsAnd ate ducklings and trucklings and kids Hot Wheel CarsAnd also pajamas, both empty and fullTuxedoes and Frodos and bison and bull

Just then overhead flew a man in a sleigh(The reindeer kept out of wolf’s reach and his way)The sleigh circled round, flying nearer and nearerThe wolf gave a sneer, which got sneerer and sneerer

Then the wolf took a look: that man seemed familiarBringing back memories, glad though peculiarOf far-away days when the wolf was a pupAnd life was a joy, with a “why” to wake up

Then the man in the sleigh did something unseemlyFrom out of a nightmare (or, leastways, a dreamly)Dropped a whole sack of coal (and plutonium, too!)On the head of the wolf (and his fleas and ticks, too)

You weep for the wolf, whose hopes were all dashed? You shed friendly tears ‘cause his life is all crashed? He HADN’T had hope, no matter how fleetingThe wolf gave a snort and went back to his eating

I will be turning in January. I have been having this wicked headache since yesterday, with some coughing. It started Wednesday, got powerful yesterday and is still hanging on. I get kinda woozy standing up and stayed in bed most of yesterday and have been napping on and off today.

    Welcome back, baby !

I’m really sorry to hear you’re unwell. Sounds nasty.

Don’t stand up too fast when you’ve been sitting down or napping.

Keep resting and don’t exhaust yourself when doing the DIY work which you normally do.

Take it easy as much as you can.

And take strong painkillers for your headache.

Are you feeling OK today? If not then…

    GET WELL SOON!

    ((((((Hug)))))

    @Pcolli

Thank you for your comment yesterday. My fall was only a few weeks ago so I’m fully recovered now.

I was away from GoComics because as you said… I needed space to myself.

@ Buggerlugs…they are coming through clearly and funnily! Thank you for ironing the bugs out…@ Eldo, Pet, thanks for the extras…still waiting for slo lo…@ Numbers 3 & 6…Half Pint glad you are doing well…Six, please get better soon, and stay out of Pubs until you are better…many wishes for a good job and prosperity in the coming year…@gweedo, please feel better soon…if I had your addy in r/l, I would send you some chicken soup….@ Godfrey, great take off on the classic poem Wolfman…@the rest of you

I dont spam for anything, usually that is….but I have to talk about one comic here at gocomics…You all know I am a woosie…emotional, totally feminine, and totally woosie….Marigold Heavenly Nostrils is a comic here at go comics. She is a Unicorn who was so entranced with her own image in a pond that she was litterly frozen in her entrancement of her own image. Phoebe is a little girl who skipped a stone across that pond and broke up the image freeing Marigold from her entrancement with her own image…she granted Phoebe one wish and Phoebe’s wish was that Marigold would be her best friend….today, as her Christmas gift to Marigold, she released her from her wish for Marigold to be her best friend….Marigold still wants to be Phoebes best friend….its made me add it as my favorite…and I want you all to experience the joy, snarkiness and beauty that is Marigold Heavenly Nostrils…please visit it and give it a chance…its an awesome comic strip and will make you truly lol and cry and wish that you had a Unicorn friend or at least a 7 year old who loves fantasy as much as we all do or we wouldnt be at go comics…

my son has taken my d-i-l and lil Ronnie to visit friends, after his lovely wife and I make Linguists home made Amaretto…(recipe available at Ballard Street earlier this week)…I am enjoying a small sip of the amaretto and some coffee while urging you all to simply enjoy this holiday weekend and take a look at MHN…you will be glad you did….and if todays doesnt take your heart and squeeze it (after knowing the back story) then change your name legally to Grinch and understand why….

Pet, I did check spam folder, there was nothing there…everything else s/b correct….@ Mystery Cat….let me check the name again….its just Heavenly Nostrils….sorry, Marigold is her first name…@Buggerlugs….thats looks more like my great grandmother…lol…Number 6 wishing you all the best….tell me that there is a “new” Mad Capps coming up….I told my son about it and he is intrigued…@ Gweedo, sorry, I can make a heck of vegetable soup too….but I do use chicken stock as a base so that would rule that out too….what DO vegetarians eat as comfort food???…sigh…hard for a mama who loves to cook (and eat) to imagine….get better soon anyway buddy…

Narcissus are the first spring flower to bloom from my bulbs here… I always know that the tulips and daffoldis arent far behind….and that its time to strew flower seeds in the beds like my grandmother did…makes for a wild and beautiful patch of ground in the early summer, after the bulb flowers in their defined array; have bloomed and shed their beauty as much as possible….lol…can you tell I love flowers?….I love wild flowers most and flower gardens like my grandma’s where daisies would group around zinnia’s mixed with peonies and marigolds and sun flowers, and black eyed susans….the levels were all irregular, but beatiful in spite of it….I strive for that here, but admit that I have one flower bed that is arranged….daisies (yellow and white and blue) around red, blue, yellow and white roses….its for the anal, organised me…lol….I had the best flower beds when I lived in So. Cal., San Diego let me go wild with flowers….and yes, I even think Ice Plant when it flowers is lovely…

received and responded….we had a house in La Mesa and before that lived in El Cajon, and Chula Vista….Ronnie was stationed in S.D. during the 70’s after Viet Nam and I was in U.C. S. D…..We had good friends in Escondido and Julian….I hung out in P.B. and when I felt daring, Blacks Beach…then I transferred up to U.C.L.A. and lived in Hollywood close to Hollywood and Western…north of H. Blvd, and just west of Western…lovely old house with a guest house; which I rented…got my degree about the time Ronnie retired from the Navy and we moved to Colorado…I still sort of miss the area….but not the quakes that wake you out of a sound sleep simply by there being some shaking going on that you arent making!

I honestly dont remember it Eldo although I should….my hubby was a big time Harley man and I rode on the back of a fatboy so many times that I should have a fat boys bottom (ty God, for relieving me of that!)…I wish I did remember but like so many of the compadres of my age…if I remembered the 70’s, did I really live through them?….What I do remember is Disco, Donna Sommers, The Bee Gee’s, Billy Joel….ah, the heck with it….I have eaten too much turkey….my son and daughter in law are about to go to sleep on the sofa….time to take lil Ronnie to the den, sit in front of the fireplace and rock us both while I hum Christmas Carols….take care all….

Eldo, I am verklempt….this is an area that has so much history! The pioneers, of an art that is still with us, founded it here….De Milles first western…Griffihs Intolerance…Sennetts comics filming anything that would create a gag for a reel of film….I hate to see that…what happened to Vons Grocery just a block away….or Pioneer Chicken…(awesome fried chicken ya’ll)….or the Hooker Haven Hotel..lol…and Taco Bell just beyond it?….ok, so I was young and loving where I lived….what an experience!
