Frazz by Jef Mallett for December 23, 2012
Transcript:
Boy: My mom had to go tot bed early last night. Because she has a double shift today at mondo mart. So my brother is, like, "whoa! I'm going to do good in school so I can get an easy job where i'll never have to work this close to Christmas!" Frazz: So is he studying now? Girl: You're funny. He's palying video games in his pajamas because school doesn't start for another week. Frazz: the problem with laziness as motivation is that it's based on being lazy in the first place. Boy: I'm motivated by not wanting to be as dumb as my brother, but he's hogging the computer.

I thought this was one of the boys…it’s hard to tell with bundled-up little kids….

When my daughter was in kindergarten, I often did her hair in cornrows. A little boy in her class had longer hair than she did, and his mother did his in rows, too.

If I tried sliding down a snowy hill on anything I believe my body would shatter. Getting old sucks!

And yet… just about everything that defines “progress” can be traced to human laziness. We domesticated the horse and invented the motorcycle because we were too lazy to walk all day like our ancestors did. We harnessed fire and invented cooking because we were too lazy to spend all day chewing roots like the less evolved hominids. Individually, laziness can lead to a “career” as a Mondomart checkout clerk, but for the species as a whole, it’s what leads to progress. Go figure…

conservatives say that people are lazy. mitt says that 47% are lazy. they say anyone in an union is lazy, even teachers who they wish to arm. but, making $1000000 from investments and interest is not lazy, it is work.

Robert Heinlein wrote a story about the “Tale of the Man Who Was Too Lazy to Fail” who succeeded at everything he did because he was trying to make life easier for himself. You can find it in his book “Time Enough for Love”.

I worked in a fast food place when I was in college. It was a great motivator to do well and get good grades so I could get a better job!
