to pin down your destiny, you must first find your fingers

Granny the Stoic. She learned some years back that her destiny is not to have a destiny.

ā€˜Agnesā€™ is one of my favourites and Iā€™ll check again later so that I donā€™t miss what everyone has to say. All you ā€˜regularsā€™ in the comment section are like club membersā€¦ You all seem to know (and mostly like) each other and make reading the comics strips much more fun. Thanks, and a Happy New Year to you all.

Good point Granny but destiny can be pretty slippery by itself.

I think Agnes must lick her fingers, then she would know the answer to Grannyā€™s wise question and will help set her on the path to enlightenment.

ā€œChristmas is just two days past, and already Agnes is depressed.Sheā€™s just not of this world!ā€-Come now, let us be honest. There is much depression around Christmas. People know they are supposed to be happy but often arenā€™t. They know they are supposed to be with family but often canā€™t stand each other. They spent much time and money on gifts the other person didnā€™t want or appreciate.-ā€œAnd so, this is Christmas, and what have we done?Another year older, a new one just begunAnd so, happy Christmas, I hope you have funThe near and the dear ones, the old and the youngA merry, merry Christmas and a Happy New YearLetā€™s hope itā€™s a good one, without any fears "-Hmmm, too late for that.

    As for her ā€œdepressionā€ā€¦ I donā€™t think sheā€™s depressed.

Sheā€™s a wild dreamer, but also very self-contained in her little chrysalis of self-protection.

She already knows that everything goes wrong outside itā€¦.sheā€™s poor, unpopular, and canā€™t catch a breakā€¦but her attitude keeps her safe, and she still expects to emerge as a sparkly butterfly one day.To me, her statement is more impatient than depressed. She wants her gossamer wings sooner, not later.
