Then what kind of a âPluggerâ does that make my brother-in-lawâhe always had parts left over when he fixed an automobile. It ran just fine but there was always something left over.
âHad a neighbor who added a couple bolts to the jarâŠ.â
Essentially, our crew used to do the same thing to each other when we had something on the workbench.. Not so much tomfoolery during wartime, though. Things were serious with lives on the line.
I remember the time putting a thing-a-ma-jig back on. One of the two bolts fell where it would never be reached. No replacement bolt was available. I put glue on the remaining boltâs threads and torqued it in. Things worked fine for 5 years. But, I worried until the end.
My son was repairing something and had his daughter to hold the screws for him. When he asked for them back, she had put them down the heater vent that went to the floor below!

The extra screws are for the drawer when something needs fixing later and you donât have a screw. Of course, it never fits anything.

Then, they try it once to see if it works. If it does, the loose screw is toast (so to speak!).

My husband always seems to get every screw back in its proper place whenever he takes something apart to fix it.
