Brought back memories…every year before Christmas, Dad would come home from work with a fruitcake wrapped up, given by his boss. Mom would say, “I know what that is”, and throw it in the trash can with a thud.

Mom always made a wonderful fruit cake. It was moist and tasty. Havent hand one for a long time. Store bought are not always good.

We never turned down a Collins Street fruit cake and neither did any of our friends. Best there is.

Yes… the barbarians left a very large fruit cake at the gates of Rome, and hid in the bushes. (No, not those Bushes!) Then, after the fruit cake had been consumed, and all the Romans were zonked out with lead stomachs, the barbarians rushed in and sacked the place.
