Bernice, you have to get through a bachelor’s program first. A Ph.D. is a fine thing to aim for, but maybe you should figure out if you like college or not; it’s not like high school.

Hey Leviticus, I wanted to say something to you for awhile.

I’m sorry that you feel the way you do about Knute, because he just happens to be my favourite character. I loved this character the second I saw him appear in the strip!

As I came to know him, Knute is more than just a bumbling, over the top, bag-of-laughs type. he represents peace of the mind, opening his heart to the world, accepting his uniqueness and recognizing it in others. He likes you for you. Some people come to a time in their lives where realization is met with discovering the personal benefits of forgiving the ones who do not understand the eccentric. Abandoning hate, misery, jealousy, low self-esteem, detest for mankind or pre-meditated violence, only to gain a happier existence to heal instead of to hurt. Gaining not just spiritual but also a physically healthier and inner fulfillment of joy and a deeper appreciation for the good things in the world. It spreads through body and mind and on to others even if some view it with cynicism. But when some see it in you, you are loved because you can love freely, they never worry because you will not judge their existence. The only and greatest reward offered is the power to pass it on and inspire others. The freedom of living you…….

This is the essence of Knute and why I believe he is a good character. I should know. Him and I are similar :)

And Knute will be more successful than all of ’em put together!

As I see it, M.U. stands for Miskatonic University, located in Arkham, Massachusetts. Look it up!

I love Knute! He adds color to the script. There is no inference that I can see that he is stupid … Just happy go lucky, considerate, a gentleman, humorous and a free spirit.The Hippie days were full of free spirits but I’m sure thousands of them turned out to be college graduates, well- to- do and family men. Knute will be like that, too.

Is nobody else bothered by the crazy-huge, mammoth hands on Gunther?!?

Today Knute is practicing for all the trade shows he’ll get to attend as senior programmer for some Silicon Valley startup. You gotta know how to collect swag.

Thanks for the mention, Leviticus. Somewhat like what Nabuquduriuzhur notes, I “lost” a large number of comments (and “Collections” of saved strips, mostly Pibgorn) when GoComics did a major re-set a while back—I think I was at about 12000 plus or minus, when my odometer was turned back to zero….………………………………………..Knute’s capriciousness does not exceed Luann’s lack of forethought about her future. He’s just toying with us….

…Actually, I’d think Luann would be begging Delta to teach her about Study Abroad ideas. That’d get her to Australia…

In other news, it’s a pity ClydeFrog is no longer with us. He would be most impressed that FLOTUS is sporting a Tiffany Farrell hairstyle, proving once and for all that the current White House tenants must be Luann fans.

What is the “Kettering” connection? (my hometown)

Crystal, Rosa, Ox and Tiffany need to put in an appearance. The gang would all be there, then. Oh, and Luann has to get on the phone to Quill.

My favorite part of this strip is reading the comments.

I like Knute. Of all the characters in this strip, he may be the one at most peace with who and where he is. I’ve never seen him get upset at anything.

Luann stops by the Mooney U. desk and she and the Blonde behind the table SIMULTAEOUSLY say: “I LOVE your hair!”Even if Luann was able to study abroad thru some program at Mooney doesn’t mean she’ll see Quill as HE will be studying HERE to surprise Luann. Then again if he and Luann were able to be at the same school would we see more of those ‘sitting on the bed’ scenes ? ☺

Knute reminds me of my Dad. He was a trade show junkie. He would go to any trade show that let him in to collect pens, toys, candy, etc. (He was in his 70’s and 80’s) I used to take him to the Building Industry Show with me every year and we had a grand old time walking the floor and collecting “stuff”. It is one of my fondest memories of my Dad.

Knute will be your next Senator. (You will get the government you deserve.)

Knute’s obviously enjoying the swagfest, but could the Kettering banner be a clue as to where he might end up? So far, it’s the only reference to a real place in the show. (Thanks, Mikeyj, for the very interesting history.)

Every year my mom’s town has a local business expo at the mall with tons of freebies (things like flying discs, pencils/pens, can coolers, mini band-aid boxes, ballons, chip clips, coloring books, etc.) and my mom enjoys going, but my kids LOVE it. They get soooo happy with the stickers, they don’t care who it’s for. Meanwhile I haven’t paid for pens, note pads, post-its or chip clips in 5 years.

I, too, appreciate Knute’s eccentricity and quirkiness. He seems like a really approachable guy. He adds charm to the strip.If I were to pick a favorite, however, I would choose Quill. I know some of you don’t like him much, but I like his wry, clever humor and his poise. (He’s also easy on the eyes.) I don’t think he’ll turn out to be a scoundrel, or a flake; but a loyal friend. If I were a guy, I would want to be like him.How about the rest of you? Who’s your favorite and why?

I wish we could see Crystal kiss Knute. Wonder what it would take for Greg to show it? Maybe if Knute were seriously injured, or if he’d just saved someone’s life, or…there has to be something that would induce her to kiss him. I also can’t believe he hasn’t tried to kiss her. They were both at the New Year’s party—maybe they did then, off page. :-)

Interesting automobile history – just wondering if you had ever gone to see the Harrah’s Automobile Collection when it was in Sparks, Nevada? I used to go there in the 70’s and it would take me about 6 to 7 hours to walk through at a good clip. Sometimes, they would let you go through the restoration shop. In the museum, you would see a lot of unusual and one – off cars like the Scarab.^^No, I know OF the Harrah’s collection but, never been there… I never leave Canada, for that matter

ATM, I would have to say that my fave character is Shannon, she is a lot like many children I’ve known, who seem to have a hard time connecting with others, because she feels left out; but, look how she brightens up around Brad, she’s really a good child, who’s just very lonely; i’m rooting for her!

@Ottodesu-clyde was delusional thinking evans named a character after him. About as likely as clint eastwood naming an orangutan after him, tho that would be an appropriate tribute. Can you get Sahlen’s hot dogs in Australia? They are quite yummy. Google it.
