There was a girl that I admired since the grade school days, but she was several grades behind me and I figured the age difference was too great, even through high school. Then, several years later someone did marry her -a fellow member of the class of ’57!
What a nice strip. I remember those days but never had the courage to pursue it. In 5th grade in Mrs O’Keefs homeroom I Sat behind Rebecca Donaldson. She had long blonde hair that sometimes she wore up and other times down. I liked down best.. This was in 1953 in Heidelburg Germany.
The guy is always the last to know. I was picked out in 10th grade by my wife. It was after graduation we started going out – we got married, partied and then had kids 5 years later. She married me in 74 and hasn’t divorced me yet………..

I love this strip. Lynne Johnston’s a great observer, and documenter of the little things of life. That’s why “FBoFW” is a classic.

Deanna probably didn’t plan on reuniting with Michael as an adult by having him rescue her from a car accident!

The girls always know, and the guys never have a clue.

Deanna always had that kind of wise sensitivity. The grownup Deanna always blew me away—beyond “sensible”—almost a kind of mystical wisdom.
