I was told that the little “mystery bruises” on my hands and arms are caused by small capillaries that burst. This is more common in cold, raw weather. I live in a flat with no heat or insulation; it seldom gets down below freezing but when it’s in the high 30s F you notice it more.

That’s what they are. Senior tattoos ! And she’s right. We never remember where we got them ( sort of like real tattoos ) !

Most tattoos look like bruises after people who gotthem when they were young get retirement age.

My anti-inflammatory made me bruise like that. Also, lack of vitamin C and smoking will cause them.

Google “senile purpura” and you’ll see that this type of bruising is common in older people.
