Transcript:
Mike: Is that...? Nah, she would have told us. Alex: Okay, so I came home to tell you what must be pretty obvious. I'm rocking a baby bump! Mike: I knew it! I knew it! Kim: Wow! How pregnant? Alex: Sixteen weeks. Mike: Sixteen weeks? Alex: Don't bother, dad. Mike: With what? Alex: Doing the math. I was married. Mike: Hey, I wasn't... Kim: So what's on board? Alex: A pair of dudes. God help me.

I think he was counting weeks.

The 6th panel: Itâs taken me, what, three decades to realize that daughter looks just like her dad.

Iâve always preferred months myself. Four months, Mike. She had a pea in the pod when she married.
MiepR about 12 years ago
Meh. Mike is thinking about money.
Blood-Poisoning Vermin about 12 years ago
Pea in the pod at the wedding is no big deal anymore. Hate the hypocrisy that pretends weâre still virgins when we marry. It was outdated last century and well-before that too, but it didnât prevent our religious and governmental institutions from shaming and condemning the mothers and their children (but not the fathers, of course).

âWill they be born with eye patches or do they have to wait to get in the war that never ends ?â#Good olâ Uncle Sam has these two âdudesâ in the pipeline to go on their first tour, to âStanâ â to battle those evil doin Taliban â in 2031!!

Comic strip time isnât our time.

âA pair of dudes.â Sounds like a poker hand. Jacks or Kings?
diggitt about 12 years ago
Well, all we can hope for is that like so many of her peers, for Alex âdudesâ is a gender-free word.
YatInExile about 12 years ago
If Alex says âGod help meâ over a pair of boys, imagine what she would say if they were girls. Especially between the ages of 12 and 21.

I was 12-years old when I finally âdid the mathâ for myself and realized I was born eight months after my folks got married. OK, so they started the honeymoon a little early â so what?
annieb1012 about 12 years ago
@YatinExile * ââŠgirls. Especially between the ages of 12 and 21.â

Iâll second that emotion!

But then, ultrasounds arenât always perfect indicators. My niece Jennifer was a boy right up until the moment she emerged.

That nose has got to hurt coming out!

My grandmother born in 1891 always said âFirst one anytime, all the rest take 9 months.â

Mamaâs donât let you babies be republicansâŠ
montessoriteacher about 12 years ago
Lots of mothers to be donât want to know what is on board these days. I thought it made it a little less complicated to know ahead of time. You can get cuter stuff if you arenât always worried about keeping everything gender neutral.
whiteaj about 12 years ago
See the gray coming in Mikeâs hair?
BillJ-MN about 12 years ago
My daughter was born 9 months and 1 day after we were married. When we told people my wife was pregnant and the due date there was the silent pause almost every time while they did the math.
Catherine Spencer-Mills Premium Member about 12 years ago
Sheâs gonna need all the help she can get.
Snark-impaired about 12 years ago
It wouldnât matter anyway, but 16 weeks is 4 months. 4 months ago was early October. Werenât Alex & Leo married in the summer?
mistercatworks about 12 years ago
Knowing the gender in advance allows one to begin the gender indoctrination pre-natally. Great.
Newshound41 about 12 years ago
One-third of women in Puritanical Colonial New England were pregnant when they got married. Researchers compared marriage registrations to birth registrations. If a women gave birth within 6 months or less after marriage, it was safe to assume she was pregnant at the time of marriage.

I am SO damn sick of ârockingâ this and ârockingâ that! The stupidest of the countless stupid perversions of our language.
onespiceybbw about 12 years ago
16 weeks is not the same as 4 months. especially regarding pregnancy and paychecks.
ChrisV about 12 years ago
Youâd think with all the left wing causes Garry champions heâd get behind population control. I mean there are almost 7 BILLION people on the planet! Weâre not repopulating after the Flood!
Banjo Evans about 12 years ago
No need for population control with all the WMDs in Iraq
annieb1012 about 12 years ago
Is Mikeâs math necessarily about when the babies were conceived? Couldnât he be trying to figure out when theyâre due?
annieb1012 about 12 years ago
Or maybe heâs thinking, âSixteen weeks already, and sheâs just now telling me?â
montessoriteacher about 12 years ago
I seem to remember DT predicting this pregnancy months ago⊠Too bad he wonât come back and brag about it.
edonline about 12 years ago
So now Alex and Leo have to think of two boysâ names. They canât name one after Leoâs father, since his mother isnât 100% sure who it is.
montessoriteacher about 12 years ago
If anyone doesnât want to know the gender, they can just say that to the people at the docâs office. Many do this and do not find out until birth. If one is so concerned about gender indoctrination, this may be your best option.
Hectoruno about 12 years ago
@Edward Rozanski with twins they can just pick the two most likely.
annieb1012 about 12 years ago
@montessoriteacher âToo bad he wonât come back and brag about it.â
>>>>
I bet he WILL come back and brag, donât you think? Whenever he has a break from whatever is keeping him away right now? I think thereâs a gleeful toldjaso on the horizon somewhereâŠ.
vwdualnomand about 12 years ago
say goodbye to seeing your feet.
annieb1012 about 12 years ago
@montessoriteacher âI was surprised when LWP visited here the other day, asking about DT.â

Me, too. Also sorry he didnât stay longer. Maybe heâd tuned in just to see what was up, noticed Piâs absence, and just queried without joining in. Guess heâs serious about that sabbatical!
water_moon about 12 years ago
Knowing gender of twins at 16 weeks? my doc couldnât tell on our first one at all, even by herself at 20 weeks.
Varnes about 12 years ago
I donât understand people who donât want to know the gender until itâs bornâŠIf you do that, why not wait a year or two after its born to learn the gender? Have someone else change the diapersâŠ
