Transcript:
Marigold: I didn't know the pond was your angry place. On the day we met were you angry? Phoebe: Livid! My mom said the most infuriating thing in the history of every!! Marigold: What is it? Phoebe: Meh I forget.
She probably said some thing typical like âpick up your socksâ, âFeed the birdsâ, âYou have to put the milk in the fridge for it to be awayâ, âWhen are you taking a shower today?â âWe have to go in five minuets put that silly game awayâ, âlook at me when I talk to youâ,âPut that cookie downâ, âYou already have that game how is this other one different?â âIf your going outside take a scarf its could outâ,âI donât see why you like it, I think its stupidâ, âHand me that thing you were about to hand me any how if I had just waited five minuetsâ, âDonât talk backâ, âExplain what happened and donât give me excuses.â âDonât get smart with meâ,âNo you can not have a ponyâ âIm inviting your little friend Dakota over, I told her all about that cute thing you did when you were 3â, or âYou mean The Wild and Madagascar arenât the same thing? What one was it you wanted again? Well I got you the Wild you love that right? Its the one with the penguins.â
Equines are very good at soothing a troubled heart. They always listen, never talk back and demand only treats or a scratch in a favorite spot. I donât recall Phoebe getting angry since meeting Marigold.
I think I know where Phoebe is coming from. When I was a teenager, I had a number of fights with my mother (God rest her soul â we lost her 3 months ago).
But when I got married and had a life of my own, Mom made a point of respecting me as an adult in charge of my own destiny. We became the best of friends.
and for the life of me, I cannot remember what the heck it was we argued about way back. it really couldnât have been important.

Itâs more about the drama you can derive from the situation, rather than being about the original situation itself.

The pond is Marigoldâs angry place, too. Who could be angry any longer staring days at a time at such a beautiful, majestic creature?

Mom said of the two worst things a mom can say to a kid. âNoâ for something Phoebe wanted, or âYesâ to something she asked âDo I have to?â

or maybe her parents didnât want to name her after any one so they thought of some thing original.

I know exactly what Mom said. Itâs the same thing every adult tells, not asks, a bullied child -ââWhy donât you be friends with Dakota.ââ
bopard about 12 years ago
Whoops, strike that. If Mom had repeated THAT phrase, PHE wouldnât have forgotten.

Marigold used a contraction? âDidnâtâ instead of âDid notâ. Never saw that before.
