Woman: I had such a great talk with my mom this morning! Cathy: You had a great talk with your mom?? Woman: Sure! Isn't it a relief to have all that mother-daughter stuff behind us?? We have great talks every day! Cathy: You have great talks every day?? Hi, mom......No, wait...don't get dad......no, it's NOT "female trouble"......wait...mom! Never mind! I'll call later! We don't have great talks every day, but we have partially decent conversation fragments fairly often!!

When I call my mom, she usually does all the talking and I end up forgetting what I called about. And don’t get me started on when she has computer trouble – I have to interrupt her in order to get a word in edgewise!Good morning, Cathy clan!! Hope you had a good morning at the soup kitchen, Susan.@GretchensMom – Yes, I totally understand where you are coming from, and I have no problems with you! I’m sure a lot were uncomfortable with our exchange, which is why I apologized. Anyway, it won’t happen often, but I can’t promise that it won’t happen again. I hope that everyone here feels free to voice their opinion, and that others are respectful when they do that. Definitely no hard feelings, sister – hugs!

Why do mothers always assume the worst-case scenario any time they hear from their children?

Some of the most entertaining mother / child “chats” you’ll ever hear are on A Prairie Home Companion. Last Saturday’s pre-Mothers’ Day skit was a hoot. Today strip made me think of it. You can watch / listen to it here:http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/programs/2013/05/11/videos/index.shtml#video-3Scroll down to “Mom.” Halfway to Friday, y’all!

I really can’t handle talking to my mom on the phone every single day. I love her dearly (I say that a lot, don’t I?!?) but she’s always been the kind of person that if you asked her what time it was, she’d tell you how to build the watch/clock instead (in other words, she loves to talk and is VERY long-winded!). Her takes-forever-to-get-to-the-point stories are much easier to deal with when I see her on Sundays than when I have to stop whatever I’m doing during my busy week to talk to her on the phone whenever she calls me (and a majority of the time, whatever she has to say really isn’t anything that can’t wait until I see her again in a few days). But what else can I do? She’s my mother and if it’s important enough for her to say, then I guess it just has to be important enough for me to listen.
lightenup: So glad we’re good, soul sister! (((HUGS!!!)))

Oh, okay. I thought you were up early for that. Don’t you normally go on Wednesdays?

[Sigh.] For some reason, this one reminded of those annoying “Can you hear me now? Good!” TV ads. With our usual nut-job “Cathy” twist, that is.
HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.
