I don’t normally talk specifics regarding my Valentine’s Day because unlike Cathy, I don’t feel the compulsion to do such a thing in order to “one-up” my friends but I’ll make an exception this time because of the unusual circumstances of it.
As I mentioned a few days ago, the only thing my husband and I do for Valentine’s Day anymore is exchange sweetly sentimental cards then go out for a nice dinner somewhere. Unfortunately, our dog got a pretty ugly G.I. bug Sunday night, calling for an emergency trip to the vet as soon as we could get her in on Monday. Even though the treatment they gave her at the clinic, along with the medication they sent home with us afterwards, had her feeling a lot better by yesterday afternoon, we still chose to stay home with her last night anyhow — just in case things took an unexpected turn and she really needed us there with her. Thankfully everything was okay after all and she’s pretty much back to her old self again today (which is a huge relief). So while we didn’t get to spend our Valentine’s Day evening the way we normally do, everything still turned out for the best because our sweet baby girl was on her way to being well again and that’s all we really cared about! ♥

Hi, rgcviper! :-)
Hello and Happy Wednesday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope everyone had a really nice day today! :-)
One additional comment: my husband and I are heading out of town tomorrow to visit his family for about a week or so. They live out in the sticks and the internet can be pretty spotty at best so I probably won’t be doing any more commenting here until I get back. Have a great week, everyone!
I used to teach Linguistics in my Anthropology courses and one of the differences between men and women is their “disclosure” tendency. Men do not disclose to other men and women do disclose to other women.

Because we weren’t brought up to obsess over romance or emotion, or to process everything to death, that’s why, Cathy!

It wouldn’t occur to a lot of normal women either, Irving.

It’s one upsmanship, Irving. Cathy is really telling her friends, “Hah! My Valentine’s Day was better than yours!”

How can Cathy STILL be bewildering Irving, all these decades in? This guy has clearly not been paying attention.

Why am I suddenly thinking of the phrase “Men are from Mars … Women are from Venus”?
Of course, in this case, they’re both from [Eye-Roll Land].
HI, MOM. Hope you have a great trip, and happy your dog is OK. Hello, Clan.
