Saleswoman: Welcome to the "I FEEL GOOD ABOUT ME" swimwear season!! Plus-sized bikinis! Abundant tanks! Nice and roomy swim shorts and skirts! Real suits for the real bodies of real women! This year every single one of us can face the swimsuits and say,"I feel good about me"! Do you know WHY we can say,"I feel good about me"?? Cathy: Because we're standing here fully clothed and the suits are way over there. Saleswoman: Exactly, shall I ring one up that you can feel good about not putting on in the privacy of your own home?

There are swim suits you swim in and suits you sin in. Wisdom is knowing which is which and where and when.

This is the kind of thing that makes a nude beach seem desirably democratic. After about 15 minutes, you realize your body is just another body.

I don’t know why Cathy shops for a new swimsuit every year. We never see her at a pool or beach and on the rare occasions we have, she was wearing either a sundress or a pair of shorts and a tank top rather than a bathing suit because it was obvious she had no plans to enter the water. You just KNOW that her closet and dresser drawers have to be bursting at the seams with bathing suits she’s already bought in years past that never even had the tags cut off once she got them home! So why does she go through this every single year? And, worst of all, why does she make US go through it right along with her!?! :-/
