I normally agree that political comment that comes entirely from left field is a matter for flagging, and have flagged many such comments myself. However, I have to also agree that in this case the example of the Nobel Prize for the intent to do something rather than actual accomplishment is a good example of exactly what today’s strip was addressing, and therefore not off topic at all.
