Nab— As I remember my biblical stuff, it wasn’t till after the snake pulled off his con act that God said “On your belly shall you crawl etc.” But all the paintings of the incident show the snake in his current version. Do we have any concept of how the snake might have looked originally? Like a mastadon, maybe? Or is that part of the story metaphorical perhaps?
Come to think of it, wasn’t the word serpent used?
He was not called the Devil in the OT, but Satan is mentioned several times, mostly in Job, but also once in the Psalms, once in 1st Chronicles, and a couple times in Zechariah.
ok, well, my brand of food for thought…God said you can eat of every tree but the forbidden onethe forbidden fruit gives you the knowledge of good & evil that only God hadbut wait, God told you good & evil, at least which trees were good & which evil…sounds to me like it was fate to eat that forbidden fruitand I’d even have the chutzpah to say,“God, you kinda set me up”
I am a firm believer in Christ and Heavenly Father. Several details that are conveniently ignored by the fundamentalist crowd are all in the first two chapters in Genesis. The first lie they expound is the creation of Adam. “On the seventh day, God rested. Then, at a future time, God created the Garden and Adam and Eve. We still do not know how much time had passed. And we do not know how much time passed before the *”FALL"*. The more times you read it the more it jumps out at you.
That is fascinating. I have heard that name in other sources but I do not know which. I am not being argumentative, just inquisitive. What is your source? Thanks in advance. I am always interested in learning this sort of thing.
Actually, the friut from the tree of life was not originally forbidden, only the fruit from the tree of knowledge was forbidden. It may help to actually read the Book (the whole Book and take it as a whole and nothing out of context)

MPeters: No. The “cast out of heaven” myth is not in the OT. I think it may be in the Koran though.
