I do not speak Spanish but I know a little bit about it. For instance, I understand that when telling time in Spanish, times from the half-hour up to the next hour are told as some number of minutes before the next hour.
So here the father is telling Baldo it is five minutes before eleven, literally 11 minus 5. The joke seems to be that Baldo takes this as arithmetic. So why does Baldo say it is still seven and not six? I’d be grateful for an explanation. Gracias.

…I don’t know how to explain this in english… but I think that was a “typo”?… Error tipografico.
