Far left girl: That was a serious hiccup! Boy in middle: I saw Pluto! Far right girl: Are you sure NASA didn't invent vernors? Frazz: Vernors predates NASA by 92 years.
Hurray for Vernors!!! That 2nd panel is great! The first drink from a fresh bottle always goes straight up the nose. Itâs exquisite agony! Gotta learn to let it settle a bit, first. I remember walking past the gnome sign, I think it was on Woodward. With fish and chips or the Christmas ham, Vernors is a must. Thanks for this, Jef!
Hot Vernorâs when sick, cold vernorâs over vanilla ice cream in the summer⊠childhood comfort beverage for Detroit kids for sure. The only ginger ale that competes is Jamaican Ginger.
Vernors is incredible itâs about the only sodapop Iâll drink. I great if your sick, itâs fantastic ice cold after days work, and it was in the original ice cream float.
[old curmudgeon mode]It isnât like it was back in the â50s and â60s! THEN Vernorâs was really Vernorâs. Now itâsjust another brand of pop.[/oc mode]
1866 â Vernors ginger ale was introduced.1930 â Pluto was discovered, deemed a planet.1958 â NASA was founded.2006 â Pluto classified as a dwarf planet, and not a planet.Today â I favorited this strip. :)
I tried one a few weeks ago. I managed to choke down half the can. I remember liking Canada Dry as a kid, will have to try that one again to see if I just lost the taste for ginger ale.
WOW, a Vernors reference, When I lived in the NYC metro area I would buy at least 3 cases to drag back whenever visiting WNY, itâs got a great bite and also makes a great batter for frying fish or chiken.
Many grocery stores with an ethnic aisle or area will have a product called ginger beer. It is non alcoholic, tastes nothing like beer, and leaves a slight burn in the throat on the way down. I believe it is very similar to the Jamaican ginger sodas. I think ginger beer is a little stronger than Vernorâs, but the oak casks Vernorâs was aged in did always give it a different taste than just ginger.
Oh, itâs been so long! Iâve gotta have one now! True GINGER ale! Fusilier, I wonder if you can still get the original formula at specialty soda places, like Galcoâs in L.A.
Only a Michigander old enough to have tasted the original knows Vernorâs. Nothing like pouring it in a glass and get nailed up the snout by the jumpinâ Jehosaphat!

Those older, small glass bottles could contain more carbonation. The same amount in a can would blow out the top.

it took me awhile to like vernors again, my mom used to give it to me whenever I got sick as a child so in a certain respect I was like Pavlovs dog.
