As I am a pure escapist when it comes to entertainment (which includes movies) and therefore prefer adventure, science fiction, and even fantasy, I pay absolutely no attention to the usual movie critics. And while I am certain that Mr Ebert was an expert in his field and will be sorely missed, he never had any influence upon my own choices. As movie making is an art form as well as technology, we should all make up our own minds on just what we wish to see.
The only movie critics I’ve ever listened to were my friends who went to the movies. “You’ve got to see this” means alot more from them than from someone paid by the industry. I went to a few others after seeing actors talking about the film in interviews, but very few.I saw at least 5 cartoons about Mr. Ebert today. I guess that qualifies as good reviews.Respectfully,C.
“I believe empathy is the most essential quality of civilization.”
“All I require of a religion is that it be tolerant of those who do not agree with it.”
“Kindness’ covers all of my political beliefs. No need to spell them out. I believe that if, at the end, according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. I didn’t always know this and am happy I lived long enough to find it out.”
Yeah, ansonia, I can see how you’d find that difficult to swallow.

Mr. Ebert was an atheist, so instead of honoring him, the cartooning is insulting him.

Did you ever actually hear him spew leftist hatred…or did you only hear ABOUT it?

“Saw it myself on Twitter”
You’ll have to be more specific, if you’re going to categorize it as “leftist hatred.” Perhaps you were projecting.

Comments BY Mr. Ebert….or comments ABOUT him?
And what was it he’s supposed to have said?

And how would YOU know? Though I suppose you are unintentionally right; as atheists believe they return to the dust.
