You actually made me tear up. No one loves us like our pets, except maybe our mother, but that is a different story. She can’t wag her tail and get excited you came home, even after only 20 minutes.
Years ago the next door neighbors had a JTR. That was the first dog I ever saw climb a chain link fence. Then he discovered it was easier to crawl under the fence. I had a Siberian Husky-Malamute mix. Those two dogs played like a couple of kids in the back yard! I still miss the Husky. I had to him give up as I had to move and couldn’t find a place that would let me keep him. Took him to the Humane Society…Worst day of my life.
I have enormous respect for a man who loves his pets. As I type this my 2 chipmunks are asleep in my hoodie pockets, and my two cats are laying on each side of my legs. We are a funny, happy, fur covered family. :) & we love bob!

Sweet story, Frank. It’s amazing what a furry blur can do for your heart. Melt it and make it stronger at the same time.

We have a pit bull – Mr. Snugglebuttons, truly one of the harmless ones – whose story is much like that of Lucy.

We all deserve a second chance – thank goodness Frank and Lucy weren’t too scared to try for it!

Many, many thanks for such a nice strip. A wonderful story. Nice lesson in perseverance, many would have returned her to the shelter. Well done!!!
