Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Even if he didnât go, who will be looking out for Walt when Gertie is gone? Maybe Rover could take some time from his âbusy scheduleâ and drive Walt. There will be somebody. I donât think it will be a reaper.
Notice how all of a sudden the new story focus has stimulated many more responses than did the two month plus with Joel and Rufus, like a shot in the arm. Good going Jim.
I am afraid we may be seeing the passing of Walt here. The comment about waking up seems to be setting the stage for a dream sequence passing. I would imagine a reunion with Phyllis is in store when he gets to the Old Comics Home. I am already tearing up about it.
âThe Gumpsâ was HUGE in the 1920s and â30s, so Walt would definitely remember the strip (it was also in the Chicago Tribune, like GA). Iâve had a âdeath of Waltâ story sketched out for several years. The thought of having him just head off to the Old Comics Home and stay there is certainly a possibility, but it kind of raises the question of how to handle that transition in the strip.

I rember the lLottle King.
Iâm surpised Walt doesnât recall the Gumps.
(Maybe itâs because they were before his time.

I remember the Little King, but the Yellow Kid and the Gumps were way before my time.

Panel two: âWake up, Walt! Gertie is callinâ you!â.
Walt is dreaming, and I think about to pass to the other side, where he will find happiness in the Old Comics Home.
Well done, good and faithful servant. You have earned your everlasting reward.

Is Walt going to look like he did in the 1920âs or 1930âs when he gets to the Old Comics Home?

Has he mentioned Maggie and Jiggs? Terry and the Pirates? Steve Canyon?

@SUSAN NEWMANIâm betting it will be Joel & Rufus who give Walt a ride to the Home. Not a good thing.

Now thereâs a thoughtâŠJim could take on Paul1963 to do the story lines. Heâs done some good alternative ones in the past.
As for Waltâs transport, yes, Rover or other grandchildren could drive. Isnât Chipper retired?
