I guess Lucy gave good âol CB enough grief that Violet and Patty werenât needed for that purpose. And by the time Peppermint Patty and Marcie arrived, there wasnât a lot of room for two other female characters who were basically âLucy-lite.â
Charlie Brown, I would just walk away to let her continue to bore herself. No need for two people to be bored⊠Anyway, youâve got other more interesting and more supportive friends such as Linus and Schroeder and, sometimes, even SnoopyâŠ
Itâs interesting how the first half of the Peanuts history is dominated by b*tchy girls, Violet and Patty, then the second half by Peppermint Patty and Marcy, who are much nicer, with Lucy becoming a secondary character. I think it may have had to do with the difference between his two marriages. From what Iâve read, the first one was a lot like Lucy (and V and P before her), and the second was possibly more like PP and M, but at least did not have an inner Lucy, to quote herself.

Violet was definitely Lucyâs mentor in many ways, but she was never as loud as Lucy.

Donât worry Violet, people will be glad to see you go too. I guess Sparky was, in a wayâViolet didnât get much strip-time.

Patty was no joy, either â not Peppermint Patty, the first Patty who usually hung with Violet.

Violet was always much meaner than Lucy.
