The thing about cellphones, is they are very useful, if it is YOU using THEM.
My husband and I don’t give our numbers out. We split 100 hours and 100 texts, which we rarely use. It’s great to have if you are stranded, lost, whatever. Or your spouse runs out of something while you are gone.
The catch is, if you are going to use it as a phone, best to avoid the smart phones. You can make calls (and take them) of course, but unless you have the thing surgically implanted, it’s probably impossible to use one.
I’m with Simpsonfan2 – don’t have one – not getting one. I don’t need to feel that important, nor worry about emergencies – they happen, and you deal with them.
I had one, but my daughter kept borrowing it and it got lost -so I decided on a new, heavier one, that has a leash attached to the wall. This one won’t get lost…..
I agree with Rise2. Until you’ve been in a restaurant and watch two kids sit a couple booths away from Ma ‘n Pa and “TEXT” back ’n forth as to what they’re gonna order? That people, is what and where those devices have taken LOTS of lazy people !
I dunno… people laugh at how dependent we get on our cellphones, and say “What did we do before we had them?” What I remember about those days is: Driving around and around the airport, wondering where the family member I was supposed to pick up is. Or, wandering thru the mall looking for my significant other… Yeah, we managed for a long time without them, but boy they do come in handy sometimes!
