earth worms don’t drown. they can live under water indefinitely. they extract oxygen from the water. the worms you see in puddles just died (as most multicellular organisms do sooner or later)

I was elected the frog pither in my biology class.
The sweet young thing in the desk next to mine liked it when I presented her frog to her ready to dissect.
I couldn’t do it today. I love critters too much, except for the ground hog that ate my flowers. Had to give him a 9mm pill out here in the country.

They “transpire” through their skin, and, as water molecules are larger than gas molecules, they can exist on the air that passes through.
