Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for April 16, 2013
Transcript:
Phoebe: This is fourth grade! I'm sure this year's class play will be more serious than last year's. I'm hoping for some really strong female roles... and some genuine insight into the human condition. Marigold: You said the play is titles "Lisa Ladybug and the Lost Lollipop." Phoebe: Possibly the insect condition.

So much for my speculations but I still want the fan art. Though I did consider the possibility of an original work I was hopping for more unicorn or at least talking food groups and a peppy song about recycling or all the ways to say “No”. Well now for my next theory Phoebe theirs out and gets stuck with stage hand / understudy she’s not happy but we find out Max is in the same boat. then stuff happens and some thing some thing Dakota.

Is Phoebe going to play a butterfly?

I would have thought 4th graders would be ready for Shakespeare! How degrading. The smallest child has better computer/internet knowledge than me after all!

Poor Phoebe. In fourth grade, we did a re-telling of various bits of Greek mythology called “It’s all Greek to Me.”

Just tell a good story; leave the “insight into the human condition” for the critics. (Ibsen regretted the monster he had created.)
