Many times I’ve seen comic artists pay “tribute” to Bill Watterson’s work and/or style (or just blatantly rip him off) – this is, perhaps, the only time I’ve seen it done by someone who actually knew what they were doing and didn’t embarrass themselves in the attempt. And managed to do it in a way that made sense in the context/continuity of the strip! Bravo.
