My father was an alcoholic and inveterate gambler, he was also very vain. He spent all our money drinking, gambling, then on this very expensive hair transplant process. When it all grew in and he was inevitably drunk I bet him $100 he wouldn’t shave his head. I used the money for a bus ticket and haven’t been home since.
There are functioning alcoholics, and happy drunks with enabling wives. I was one and my kids like it at home so well they 2 out of 3 are at our home in their 30s and all 4 grandkids are here more than not. I don’t drink now, but no one complains about being abused (I worked hard, even after I was disabled)
