I lived on Oahu in 1962 when I was a small boy. My father, Gene Basset, was the political cartoonist for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. In a cool twist of fate, Red and Rover runs in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser — The Honolulu Advertiser bought the Star-Bulletin last year. Hawaii has never left me.
