There is an interesting question asked in the Babylonian Talmud:
“If a wedding procession traveling east meets a funeral procession traveling north reaches an intersection at the very same time, which has the right-of-way to proceed through the intersection first?”
The answer is that the wedding procession takes precedence. The cynical explanation not included in the Talmud is that the wedding procession goes first because it is equivalent to two funeral processions.
