Kids seem to have more “goof off days” than actual school days. It’s a wonder we can still compete on a global stage.

My son told me that my grandson’s class has been watching movies every day for a week.

My son had his (HS) finals in the next to last week, then had “goof off” time for a week until the last day. The teachers needed the time to grade the finals so they could have the grades ready by the end of school. Don’t know why that was necessary — surely if the kids were not at school they could grade faster. And the grades come in the mail anyway.

The students have to clock in a certain # of hours each school year. Even doing nothing productive counts. It prepares them for the real world…like when we get to the timeclock a minute or two early and have to stand around waiting for the proper time to punch out. Frazz = real life.

They should just get out on Friday. Why would you go back for one day after the weekend?! Kids got out on Thursday here.

Here the last day of school was a Friday, but it was ONE HOUR, because the state has a law about the # of days and the # of hours, and with school for 8-2:30 (we were 7:45 -2:45 or 8-3 so they’re cutting it as far as I’m concerned) even with several half days for P/T confences, “faculty development”, etc. they still had too many days vs. hours. sigh
