Ernesto: Ah, Peter! Checking out some summer reading? Petey: Hi, um, Ernesto. Yeah, Ive got this book- Ernesto: Let's see! "Dirk Dragonslapper Volume 1: The Trolls Revolt." Petey: Its about a boy who rides around on a dragon- Ernesto: Yes, I reviewed it on my blog... Petey: You have a blog? Ernesto: Yes. I found the book derivative and thin, like watered- down Tolkien. You do like Tolkien? Petey: Ive never been tolking. Ernesto: Lol! The always quotable Peter! May I use that? Petey: Yeah, okay. Ernesto: Goodbye! Enjoy your little book! Mom: Lets check out. Petey, Where's your book? Petey: I put it back. Its derivative, watered-down, tolking. Mom: Okay, Petey. Alice: Im getting the big pop-up book of giant squids! See? Petey: Gaah!

I like Alice’s book! Sorry, Petey. Don’t let Ernesto the Possibly Imaginary dictate your reading choice!

One of the scariest things about Ernesto to me is that he reminds me of a VERY extreme version of an old middle school crush….

: D There’s nothing better than a big pop-up book to knock you out! (Ernesto the Possibly Imaginary is SO disturbing, in such a delightful way…)

Petey has probably never been kipling ether.

I had a Junior High teacher respond to my not liking a book with “so why did you keep reading it?” to which I replied “because you made us”. He had no reply. BUT I will not finish a book I find uninteresting or just don’t like. He gave me permission to do that.

Everytime I see Ernesto, he reminds me of the late Roger Ebert. Does anybody else feel the same?

To be fair, just about anything would seem derivative and thin when compared to Tolkien.
Read it anyway, Petey. Even if it is thin and derivative Tolkien, that doesn’t mean it still wouldn’t be an enjoyable read.

Petey, read it if you like and “the Overlander” series. but soon, you will be ready for Tolkien!!

I’ve never really bothered to read reviews because their just one person’s opinion, and usually that one person is trying to impress all his readers by throwing around big meaningless words so he sounds like an intellectual instead of an oppinionated idiot.
